Position Summary

We are looking for a talented Enterprise Architect for Crawford & Company’s International department.  This role will be pivotal in helping to align teams that have previously worked in silos to begin to map their systems and set a direction to create a robust, flexible architecture with simplicity, re-usability and connectivity at its heart.

Working closely with the IT leaders for each territory and their system owners/architects you will collaborate with various teams to embed industry best practices and work with product owners to evolve our architecture.

As the ideal candidate, you should possess excellent communication skills, demonstrating compassion and active listening when engaging with individuals. You will excel in negotiation, striving to achieve the best outcomes for all parties involved.

This is a very hands on role as we begin to build an architecture practice.  Help us shape the future of our organization and make a significant impact in the dynamic field of IT.

Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the VP of Enterprise Architecture Governance, develop and execute an overarching IT architecture strategy for international operations, aligning with business objectives and regional IT Directors.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure IT architecture supports the organization's growth, scalability, and innovation goals.
  • Lead the International Architecture Review Board and be an active member of the Global Architecture Review Board.
  • Establish and foster relationships with Domain Architects specializing in areas such as TPA, Loss Adjusting, Contractor Connections, Legal Services, and other relevant domains.
  • Facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing between Enterprise IT and Domain Architects to ensure cohesive and integrated system architectures.
  • Train and coach Domain Architects in effective architectural practices, emphasizing collaboration, consistency, and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Work closely with Domain Architects to build a strong foundation for their teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Bridge the gap between Domain Architects and System Architects, ensuring seamless communication and alignment in architectural decisions.
  • Collaborate with System Architects on specific projects to provide guidance and ensure architectural consistency across systems.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to make informed recommendations for technology adoption and integration.
  • Evaluate existing systems and propose enhancements or replacements that align with the overall enterprise architecture strategy.

Behaviours

  • Demonstrate resilience in the face of challenges, maintaining composure and adaptability to navigate through complex situations and unforeseen obstacles.
  • Adopt a client-focused mindset, understanding the needs and expectations of internal stakeholders, and aligning architectural solutions to enhance overall user experience and satisfaction.
  • Stay actively engaged with industry forums, conferences, and ongoing education to remain at the forefront of technological advancements, bringing valuable insights and best practices back to the organization.
  • Demonstratable strong leadership qualities by effectively guiding and motivating teams. Inspire trust and confidence, foster a positive work environment, and encourage professional growth and development.
  • Take ownership of your responsibilities and be accountable for the outcomes of IT projects and initiatives.
  • Always ensure that tasks are completed on time and to the expected quality standards.
  • Embrace innovation and encourage creative thinking within the architecture teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to evolving business needs and technological landscapes.
  • Foster a culture of mentorship and knowledge-sharing, supporting the development of architects.
  • Set and achieve measurable goals aligned with the organization's overall strategy and objectives.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills to address complex architectural challenges and provide effective solutions.
  • Uphold and promote ethical standards within the architecture teams and ensure that architectural decisions prioritize data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Skills

  • Demonstratable skills in aligning local IT initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • At least 3-5 years of working in an ITIL/COBIT (or equivalent) service management and governance environment.
  • Ability to think strategically and align IT architecture with business goals and objectives.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate complex scenarios and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proven leadership skills to guide and inspire teams of architects.
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively with regional IT Directors, Domain Architects, and System Architects.
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise-level IT architecture, including cloud technologies, security, and integration methodologies.
