Our opportunity

As a Marine Engineer Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for the technical and proactive management of a niche marine related insurance loss and provide crisis management and advice to the insured whilst mitigating liability exposure against third parties

What you'll be doing

You’ll be attending surveys throughout the UK – liaising with clients/other surveyors to arrange and attend H&M, P&I and other Engineering / Marine related surveys, recording all information necessary to progress claim and preserving all relevant evidence, before compiling and preparing a Preliminary Report/Advice for insurers to fully understand the technical detail and circumstances surrounding any incident you attend on their behalf.

As you’ll be working in conjunction with other Crawford products, you’ll ensure full communication with your colleagues through the progression of the claim when needed, including report writing and relevant updates, claims adjustment – collating evidence and establishing liability and quantum, handling any desk based claims based upon papers alone at times.

You’ll also be working in partnership with overseas surveyors – acting as a focal point for clients, ensuring reports received are readable and contain all pertinent information, ensuring you maintain a tight diary system, preserving time bars to protect client’s position and optimising all business opportunities.

About you

We’d also love to hear from candidates with experience of marine engineering  liability claims handling gained within insurers, brokers or transport companies or loss adjusters with transport or liability investigation skills who may wish to specialise in this area of practice.

  • Knowledge of the Marine insurance market and key players
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • ACII and /or ACILA qualification
  • Proven track record in handling of Marine claims.
